5 Surefire Ways to Have a Great Day

Life is short, and the little time that we have should be spent having as many great days and moments as possible. 1-800 Charity Cars, a vehicle donation/distribution program that services the entire United States, would like to provide you with 5 surefire ways to have a great day.

Count Your Blessings

One way to get in the great day zone is to take at least a minute every morning before your day starts to truly count your blessings. The number one blessing should be that you woke up, you’re breathing, and you’re blessed with another day. Take stock of the good in your life and what you are fortunate to have been blessed with. Good friends, a loving spouse, beautiful children, success in your education/career, food on the table, and a roof over your head are all blessings. Whatever you have been blessed with, take it in, and allow these blessings to motivate you. Start your day positively by focusing on the good in your life.

Keep a Good Reflections Journal

Every night, before you go to bed, reflect upon the day you had and record the good moments from the day. Focus strictly on the good. Huge moments of greatness (promotions, pay raises, graduations, births, etc.) do not happen every day. Sometimes it is the little things we tend to overlook that provide us with good moments and we need to learn to stop and appreciate those moments. Perhaps someone extended a helping hand to you, held open a door, gave you their seat, or performed any other random act of kindness. Maybe you shared a special moment with your children, spouse, family or friends. Remember that something small, but good happened today. Write them down each day and on the days when you feel yourself slipping into the realm of a bad day, pull out your journal and relive them. It will help get you back on the good track and remind you that no matter what is going on in your life, good can be found every day we live.

Seek Motivation and Inspiration

Many people start their days with watching the news or reading the newspaper. While it is good to stay abreast of the happenings in the world, it can make you start your day in a bad state of mind with stress and worry. Try to focus on reading, watching, or listening to something that motivates and inspires you. Find inspiring quotes, passages from books, and music that feeds your soul with enlightenment and a sense of empowerment. This will set you up to start the day on a good note.

Nourish Your Body

Our bodies must be nourished to be able to function for the day. You wouldn’t hop in your car with no gas to go on a trip would you? Why would you try to run your body all day with no fuel? Nourish your body. Eat well, stay hydrated, rest at night and be active during the day. Many bad days occur simply because people are running on fumes. They lack energy, cannot concentrate, and get irritable or moody because their bodies are being deprived of food, fluids, and rest. If your body is deprived your mind will follow suit. Take care of your body and you will be in a better place to have good days.

Extend a Hand to Someone in Need

Many people tend to dwell in the land of “it’s all about me.” They expend all their energy into nourishing their ego. These people get caught up in the quicksand of self-centeredness. This mindset can suck the potential good out of every day. Being so focused on oneself is exhausting, and sets people up for falling into bad days when things don’t go their way. Take time to focus on those around you and strive to do good where you can. Lending a hand to others in need will give you a meaningful sense of satisfaction, while making a difference in the lives of others. The positive effects that come from helping others will bring forth greater days than you could ever hope for.
