Claudia Evart is the founder and director of the Siblings Day Foundation. Claudia lost both of her siblings early in her life. She came up with the idea for Siblings Day over a decade ago to honor, celebrate, and give recognition to our brothers and sisters. She chose the date of April 10th because it was the birthday of her sister, Lisette, who passed on.
1-800-Charity Cars, a national non-profit that has provided thousands of vehicle donations to struggling families nationwide, knows the importance of bonds with our families. Many of the people that we assist are able to make it through very difficult circumstances in their lives due to family support systems. We have also seen how those who are without families can form bonds with another through our program. This often gives them the family/sibling type relationships they might not have otherwise.
Today we offer you the following list of ideas to honor National Siblings Day:
FOR SIBLINGS YOU ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH
- Send a card or e-card
- Send a letter
- Send a gift or small token of appreciation
- Give them a phone call
- Send a text or picture message
- Perform an act of kindness
- Take them out to eat
- Go see a movie
- Invite them over for a sibling day, night, or to have dinner together

With the income tax deadline of April 15, 2014
rapidly approaching, many people are scrambling to meet the deadline. 1-800-Charity Cars
, conductors of the nation’s largest vehicle donation distribution program, realizes that failing to meet the Internal Revenue Service deadline for income tax filing can result in interest and penalties.
If you are one of the many who wait until the last minute to file your income tax return, 1-800-Charity Cars would like to offer you the following last minute tax tips to help you meet the deadline or ask for extra time:
KNOW THE DEADLINE
Knowing the deadline and criteria surrounding it can help ensure that you don’t make last minute errors by rushing to complete your tax return. The deadline is April 15, 2014 at midnight, but that does not mean the Internal Revenue Service must have actual possession of your return at that time. It must be postmarked, hand delivered, or electronically filed by that time.
Getting organized may be the most valuable advice in our list of last minute tax tips. People often fail to meet the deadline due to lack of basic organization. They sit down to prepare their income tax return and are constantly stopping and starting as they look for information. Before you sit down to prepare your income tax return, be sure to collect everything you will need. Having everything ready will make preparing your income tax return faster and less stressful.
On April 2, 2004, Tommy G. Thompson, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, declared the first ever “National Walk to Work Day”. It has continued to be observed on the first Friday of April every year since that time. This day was orchestrated to encourage people to get motivated, get moving, exercise and become psychically fit. The basic concept is to get everyone to walk at least 30 minutes on this day and encourage them to incorporate exercise into their daily lives.
The Original 1-800-Charity Cars, a national non-profit that has provided thousands of free donated vehicles to struggling families throughout the United States, would like to offer you the following list of benefits from just thirty minutes of walking per day:
- Improve your mindset and mood
- Prevent diabetes
- Promote weight loss
- Relieve stress
- Lower your risk of heart disease
- Lower your risk of cancer
- Lower your risk of stroke
- Lower blood pressure
- Lower bad cholesterol
- Increase good cholesterol
1-800-Charity Cars, a nonprofit car donation charity, operates the www.freecharitycars.org site, where struggling families are able to apply for a free charity car nationwide. Today, we would like to highlight one of our car donation applicants to share with you the people behind the need.
Jessica Laurie has been a member of our vehicle distribution site since November 12, 2013, where she has applied for assistance in receiving a vehicle. Here is a summary of her situation that she wanted to share:
“My name is Jessica, my username on Free Charity Cars is Janyia Miracles Journey, and I reside in Des Moines, Iowa. I’m a single Mother of four children, and in desperate need of transportation.
Thirteen weeks pregnant, I had a baby in my tube that caused it to rupture and we both almost lost our lives. They did surgery and her oxygen was cut off for twenty nine minutes. Janyia was born with Hydrocephalus, Arthrogryposis, and spent four weeks in the NICU. She has had a lot of hospital admissions and stays that lasted upwards of a month at a time. She has had four surgeries, including two on her brain and two for GI feeding tubes. Janyia is unable to feed, developmentally delayed, and has no use of the waist down.
Many people tend to put off vehicle repairs and maintenance to save money. They may not realize that postponing repairs and maintenance will cost them much more down the road. April is recognized as National Car Care Month. This is a month for people to place focus on taking better care of their vehicles. The Original 1-800-Charity Cars, a national non-profit car donation charity, would like to offer you the following list of things to do to ensure your vehicle is well-maintained:
REGULARLY CLEAN YOUR CAR
Be sure to regularly wash, wax, and detail your vehicle. Many people do not realize that caring for your vehicle also includes keeping it clean inside and out. Washing and waxing can prevent major deterioration of your paint/finish. Scratches and dings can lead to paint chipping and even rust. You can preserve the interior of your vehicle through cleaning and detailing. There are several products that will help prevent the sun from drying out your dash, fading upholstery, and even protect from normal wear and tear.
SCHEDULE A TUNE-UP
When you get a tune-up performed on your vehicle, you are making sure that your engine is at it’s best. This will not only give better performance, but it will save on fuel costs by increasing gas mileage.

It is very easy for people to fall into the trap of having clutter everywhere in their home. Getting organized can help you have a clutter-free home in no time. 1-800-Charity Cars, nationwide car donations program
, wants to offer you the following five steps to a clutter free home and to get you on track for organization.
Step One – Gather Supplies
When getting started, there is no need to spend a small fortune on expensive storage bins and organization systems. All you need are the basics, like trash bags, a few cardboard boxes, Ziploc bags, and some inexpensive plastic shoe storage boxes.
Step Two – Do A Thorough Clean Out
Before you attempt to get organized, you should always go through your belongings and perform a deep, thorough clean out. A good rule to follow is: anything you have not touched or used in a year needs to be removed. So, go through your belongings and get rid of unnecessary items.
The Original 1-800 Charity Cars operates the www.freecharitycars.org site, where struggling families apply for a free charity car, nationwide. Today we would like to highlight one of our car donation applicants to share with you the people behind the need.
Sandra Doss has been a member of our vehicle distribution site since August 12, 2013, where she has applied for assistance in receiving a vehicle. Here is a summary of her situation that she wanted to share:
“My name is Sandra Doss, my username on Free Charity Cars is Sandyd314, and I reside in Frankfort, Kentucky. Two years ago, I started having bad headaches and I thought it was my blood pressure. After an x-ray was performed, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I have to have follow ups every six months for my brain tumor. I also have polyps on my vocal cords that have left me only able to talk above a whisper. The hospital here in Frankfort is very small and ill equipped to meet my medical needs. They said I would need to go to a bigger hospital, better equipped to have them removed.

, the nation’s leading car donation/distribution charity
, routinely works with low-income families. We see first hand the financial struggles so many people are facing. We would like to encourage everyone to spend time with your families. Time spent with family helps to lighten the load of stressful situations you may be facing.
Here is a list of 5 free / low cost family fun ideas:
VISIT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY
Visit your local public library. The library can be a lot of fun for families. You can do many things such as: checking out books, videos, and other materials, reading magazines and the newspaper, or using the public computers. Most libraries also have story telling time, book clubs, and other activities. Be sure to check the library schedule to see what they offer and when.
